Foreign Diversion Owners

 New Zealand
New Zealand - Blenheim: Ray Gleeson [16-Sep-00]
Still getting around on my XJ900S Diversion that I purchased in December 1994. Now at 25,000km. New fork seals were required at 22,000km and has been the only problem. Used only for recreation as a member of the Ullyses Club of NZ and for touring to the occasional motorcycle rally. Nearly all riding has been with a pillion and I have yet to bottom out the suspension. Bike is still in excellent condition and still running on its original mufflers. I have noticed a number of diversions with after market mufflers as a result of the originals having corroded out. This appears to have been the result of having used leaded petrol early in their life before this country went to unleaded 96 Otane fuel.
New Zealand - Christchurch: Chris Peters [07-Jul-05]
I've got a 1992 XJ600. It has side Givi bags, and a pack rack on it, and is a great touring bike. Heaps of power, and really smooth. I'm in the market for a 900 so if anyone out there wants to trade down from a 900 to a 600, or outright buy a 600 get in touch with me.
New Zealand - Lower Hutt: Les Prescott [24-Jan-06]
I am a senior rider and a member of Ulysses for past 10 years. After hireing a Diversion 900 in Tasmania I went in search of one here at home, they are not that common in NZ however I managed to find a 1996 900 with full set of Givvis and I love it. Longest trip has been from Christ Church to Wellington about 4 hours
New Zealand - Palmy: Rob Ward [28-Mar-07] 2007
I have a Diversion 400cc. Nice little bike, ideal for commuting. Have you seen this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_Diversion.
New Zealand - Rotorua: Peter VF Harman [12-Oct-97]
Peter wrote: I'm an x-firefighter, married, with two teenagers and have just returned to motorcycling after many years of absence but plenty of craving by purchasing a '96 Diversion 900 (2nd Hand) from a local dealer. I must admit that thoughts of returning to my youthful motorcycling days are appealing and we are looking forward to utilising the bike for touring and meeting new and old friends. Btw your site is great and I feel fortunate to have found it. Regards PVFH
New Zealand - Auckland: Keith Lawry
Keith owns a 1995 900 Diversion (Green) which he purchased new 12 months ago, and have since travelled 24,000km on. The bike is only used for recreation and touring. While he has not had any real problems with the bike so far, apart from two blown fork seals, he's interested to know what problems other owners may have experienced once their bikes have travelled greater distances.
New Zealand, Aotearoa - Tataraimaka: Gregory Lynne
Not Gregory but his friend Brian owns a Diversion XJ600, but Brian does not have an internet address. Gregory himself has a Moto Guzzi 850 T5. Brian is an aero mechanic, an off road rider, and collector of old junk including a Suzuki 100 for thrashing around paddocks, a GT250 for looking at and wondering how they drove such machines in the 70's and 3 or 4 off road noise makers.
