Foreign Diversion Owners

 Norway
Norway: Bjørn Rugaas [15-May-06]
Hi,all! I'm a 54 yrs male Norwegian, 187 cm tall, who got me at XJ900S last spring, after a couple of years riding an XRV750 (Honda Africa Twin). The Diversion is a medium blue 99 mod, with 40.000 km on the meter. This far I've had some kilometers on the bike - but spring hasn't been too hot this year until last week. In my opinion the Diversion is a great bike, with lots of torque, easy to handle and looks great. I don't consider it as a dull bike, but I'm not an experienced biker at all. I live in Telemark in the rural southern part of the country. Here are great roads for biking in all directions, so I look forward to a long summer on my Divi togehter with SWMBO (she who must be...)

I'm very happy about the bike, and Yamaha service. Had head bearings changed from ball to conical on Yamaha Norway's expense. Now the bike is much steadier on uneven road and no-hands situations.

Went touring on it with my wife last summer, through Denmark, Germany and Sweden for 2 weeks. Today the bike is parked in the garage, waiting for the temprature to rise.
Norway - Hamar: Thor Granheim [17-Dec-00]
I'm an 37 years old salesmanager and my 1997 900S Diversion is my first Yamaha. Find it nice, especially on long travels, but a little bit noisy (wind). Tried to change the screen to a higher one, but found it even more noisy, so I changed back to the original. Total km is 27.000 without any mechanical trouble at all. For anyone traveling in my area, contact me if you want a free overnight stop.
Norway - Klepp Stasjon: Jarle Mossige [03-Oct-99]
Yellow '94 model XJ600S. Used to work and from work, every day all year (exept when there is ice on road).
Norway - Orsta: Frode Johnsen
Frode lives about 321 km north of Bergen in a litte village call Xrsta (Orsta), aged 40 and works in the North Sea (drilling). He bought his new green XJ900S Diversion on 12/05/95 and he thinks it's a beauty and rides a lot with it. Last season 13800 km and he enjoyed every one of them. He started this season on april 1st, 1996 and already has added 1700 km. He mostly drives in Norway on the west coast north from Bergen with lots of small and curvy roads and hardly any traffic. He has never been to Europe but who knows, maybe this season. Due to the weather conditions in Norway season is a lot shorter than in the rest of Europe so he had to ride on hard.
Norway - Oslo: Liv-Randi Simonsen [30-nov-96/01-Apr-97]
Liv-Randi was the lucky owner of 600S/95 Blue. She got her license last year while she was 47! This summer she and her husband drove from Oslo to Narvik and back. That is a trip of about 3,500 km. Her husband drives a ZZR 1100. She has tried it, but she prefers her 600S. The perfect bike for beginners. For her first season to be, on her own bike, she's very proud of her first 12,000 km - in only 5 months. Next year it will be more, she hopes. The bad news came on april 1st, 1997.... she swapped her beautiful blue Divvy for a YZF600R, well... at least it's Yamaha.
Norway - Oslo: Runar Ottesen
Runar Ottesen is the owner of a '96 dark cyan metallic (DCM2) XJ900S Diversion. His first bike was a Suzuki GS1100G '94, owned from '91 to 94'. His birth date is 4th of June 1967. He's a member of the NAF-MC which is part of the Norwegian Automobile Assisiation. He had the bike since 26 of April 1996 and has accomplished to get 4800 KM on it till now. After the run in-period in Norway for ca. 1200 KM he took the bike on at Europe trip for two weeks with two friends, they started up with a boat trip from Oslo to Kiel. They proceeded towards Berlin with a stop in Perleburg. After two nights in Berlin they continued for Prague, they had to rest near the border in a place named Sebnitz. They then had three nights in Prague before they thought about Vienna or Budapest but ended up in the direction of Amsterdam. They had four nice days there before they had to look north for the inevitably end of our European tour of '96. The total amount of kilometers was about 2800, with only four hours of god pouring water over them while they sat on their bikes. He looks forward to another trip in Europe next year.
They had little trouble with the bikes. He lost a "pullback spring" which he does not know where it was originally fitted. Since he had 3000 km on the bike after he lost it and have not noticed anything unfamiliar, He will just wait until the mechanic shall do the 10000 km service. The third person riding is the owner of the exact same bike as his and he had zero trouble with his machine.
He feeled he had become quite familiar with the bike, except from the front suspension which he thinks is too soft. He will try to adjust it a little harder. Even with a passenger of 100 kg the rear suspension feels OK. Another thing he can't get 100% familiar with is the riding position, the riding style works fine for his legs but his arms haven't got acquainted with the riding position.
Norway - Troms: Dag Dalhaug [12-Feb-00]
I have a red XJ900S Diversion 99 model. Bought new spring 99. One trip to Sweden ca 2500km and one trip to North Cape in Norway ca 2500km. A total of 11600km in 99. Beautiful bike. I am a member of NAF Mc in Harstad, Norway.
Norway - Sandvika: Otto Kiær Engelschiøn [03-Sep-05]
I am the lucky owner of a 1999 XJ900S Diversion which I have had from it was new. Milage as pr. august 2005 is 45.000km. Mostly used for touring, but also to and from work. Prior to the 900 I had a XJ600S Diversion for 3 years, but since my wife and I are traveling a lot packed with a lot of stuff we needed a little more power in the low end. Diversion-owners are welcome to visit us, and evt. park their MC safe while visisting Oslo.
